Damn it. So 2 living people of the same line can’t be alive at once. Which is why John can touch baby-John, but couldn’t create Dad when Dad was still walking around.

But Aradia can skirt that rule, since she was dead, and always was dead, when this game was played. So she can doom-timeline duplicate herself to reach a point where eventually a Current Version of herself would live.

Which means that she lived though enough doomed timelines to gather hundreds-to-thousands of her for said victory, and that is just sad.
