End For Real

And Thus it has ended. For real this time.

And…wow Vrisky Business. That just tore into my heart right there.

Vriska just losing herself into her pain, into her life that she is forced to have with her Spider that can turn on her at any given time, into the fact that her friends seem to have a better life and seem to overcome any challenge in a better way than her. Just, there was just so much raw emotion to unpack here.

How she kept trying to be useful by cleaning up her own blood after herself. How she was just taking the arm instead of asking Equius to build her a new one, because she had to do it herself. That it was only possible if she did it herself.

I know that there is a lot of Controversy around Vriska, the Vriscorse I think it’s called. How some people are either on the “she’s good” or “she’s bad” camp. It actually reminds me a lot like the Odyssey, in a way.

Really it came from this article talking about a new translation of the Odyssey, that I read on tumblr a long while ago. How other translators would cast judgement on
Odysseus since the starting line. But this new version, it called him “complicated”. And I think that sort of sums up my feelings on Vriska.

She’s Complicated.

There is no clear-cut way to perfectly sort her as either good or evil. She has done bad things, but she still cares for her friends. She tries to be good and useful, but is forced to kill since a young age. She is just…complex, and I think this comic does a good way of showing it.

Hey…can you not make that creepy sweaty face while carrying Vriska’s unconscious and dying body? Thanks.

She just went off on the verge of madness and finally passed out. And not gonna lie, it was probably one of the hardest things I had to read.

And here is Equius, coming in to help. Or at the very least, do what he can. After hearing all of that.

Vriska is reaching her tipping point here. She is envious of Terezi because even without a lusus or sight, Terezi still rises. And she is
envious

of Equius because he can do what he wants with a lusus to care and tend to him.

While she is forced to scrap and etch out her own life with a guardian that could kill her at any time.

It’s hard, to just see her lashing out like this.

The face when people are onto you.

Look at him!! Look at this Lusus!!! He’s like if Toad from Mario took off his mushroom top mixed with the Monopoly Man.

God Vriska. You are bleeding and dying. You don’t have to act so coy about asking for a fricking robot arm.

So this is last where we left off on Equius face as he tries to figure out whether it is worth it to make Vriska the 6-billion boonbuck troll. As you can see, there is the page number, so this was lifted from the book.

So…Vrisky Business was cool. But I can’t really finish it at this time.

I am glad that there is a 2nd book. Even if it is in book form (making it harder for me to blog about ;P ), it makes me happy that more fan comics got published like this. Because all the artists here did just an amazing job just expanding the Homestuck Universe.

Equius not giving Vriska the time of day took me off guard. I thought there would be at least more reaction to that. But that cold aloofness, definitely new. And Vriska being high and just talking non-stop, that hurt a bit more than what I would have thought. Maybe it was because I know the type of people they will grow to be, maybe because the actual incident was pretty horrific. Either way, this comic got to me. It was pretty good.

I’m going to try and find the end half of Vrisky Business. But know that if I do get the other half, I won’t be blogging everything. Since it was in a paid book, to just blast it all online like that would be a dick move. Just to let you guys know in advance.

SO…I just got the pdf of the full comic by my helpful and wonderful Discord….So EVERYTHING that I wrote was all fucking moot now. Because I am still going.

So why am I leaving it all up there?

Because I don’t want my typing to go to waste.

I’m also still not going to blog everything either, on principle.

Oh, oops? Looks like that story ends there. Or at least part one does.

Look at that book. Look at that cover right there. Just looking at it makes me so unbelievably happy.

Yeah, ok. If there is any culture that can just let you casually accept a person dying in your house, that can just be pitched into a volcano.

Like, We Know that Equius didn’t, but he was thinking about it, and other trolls might not have been that caring.

Yeah. That blood-loss was going to kick in sooner or later. ‘But look at that Side-eye from Equius to Vriska as soon as she starting talking about his Lusus. Like he was going to pounce if she says the wrong thing.

Plus…no offense Vriska…I don’t think that towel will be dry when you grab it right now.

Maybe a mix of both.

I would have put the “I will one day learn not to say shit that turns out to be right” reaction pic I have here….but this honestly feels a bit too serious for that.

This is so odd. Like…is it because Vriska is too close “blood-wise” to trigger Equius’s kink-mode? Not to say this is any way/shape/form wrong. It’s just odd.

Damn, the balls on Equius here. He isn’t even paying attention to Vriska. Usually Equius was either super invested in “serving” the High Caste, or “ordering” the Lower Class (with their lines crossed every so often)

But this, this apathy, this is totally new.

Equius isn’t even bothering to turn around. Damn, how often does he have to put up with Vriska like this?

Ok, yeah, she is losing it from blood loss.

God, how old was she when this happened? Because she was still under 13 when she lost her eye and arm.
