This is getting sad. Because, none of the kids could have saved their city, their planet, their homes. They could only save themselves. So Rose is trying to save her city again, even if it is just a bunch of cans stacked together she is going to protect it.

How often does Kanaya have to deal with this to be used to this?

If you wanted to preserve the city, sure. But maybe you should have done this weeks earlier and not around impact.
