Thanks for your wonderful suggestions. I have put them all on my list for things I want to look into. I was actually looking for a 3rd thing to react to soon. Or maybe start a new system where I do a different webcomic each day for an afternoon session so that way I can get though a lot more, and see which ones I like better to continue. Though I don’t think I will do that until I at least finish Chapter 3 of Paranatural, just so that way I am at the chapter half way point.

Homestuck will always be a morning blog though. I am not giving up on that any time soon.

Chapter 3 Page 34 (pg 134)

That is going to end session 8 here.

So…Johnny is now my established favorite character. It is so hard to pic a favorite from such a wide range of colorful characters in this series (seriously, I don’t think I have ever seen such an engaging series where I didn’t like at least 1 person), but Johnny always steals the show for me. His weird behavior. I am like 65% sure he has like a Borderline Aggression Disorder or something to explain his rage modes and his crazy modes. Just the sheer fuckery that this guy puts out makes me laugh every time.

And let’s not forget modern au aizawa cameo that is Mr. Garcia. I love him so much

The Sphinx is defeated. We now know Isaac and Max’s full powers. No reason as to why yet, but that should be revealed soon. Max established himself as a badass on the bus. And Johnny KNOWS. Oh man, I am just waiting for when he is begging to be a part of the activities club.

Also I found out from my Discord people that the ship between Johnny and Max is called bullymagnet. And yeah, that is a clever name, and I can see it. Or at least, I can see Johnny’s behavior be a weird flirting attempt on his part. I don’t think Max has reciprocated those feelings yet

Part 119 End

So I am going to end it here. It seems that there is another Exile talking, can’t wait to see who that will be.

So the memos. They are an interesting lot. More time travel, but trying to find a purpose. Having people just butt in to Karkat’s plan is hilarious. I love seeing how Karkat is tangled up in so much romance drama here. It is nice to see Tavros and Vriska still be friends with each other even if Tavros doesn’t feel the same as Vriska. Maybe that will change after a month? Who knows.

Also, 1 month game time? Am I going to have to read all of that???

So Sollux’s entries hit very very hard, and I am sure that Karkat’s new memo will be about his death.

And Terezi is having a pleasant conversation with the Black Queen. I am very afraid of what might happen over that.

Chapter 3 Page 15 (pg115)

So that was a fun read.

We get to see Isaac and Max bonding through town. Issac has a lot of questions, but it looks like no one is taking them seriously. So he decided to hedge his bet on Max getting the answers. I can’t tell if this might be a set up to something greater like “Isaac knowing too much” or “Isaac doing something horrible in exchange for the knowledge he seeks” but for right now it is pretty genius plan to get his information. Plus him ragging on Spender is nice.

More Ghost lore, which is nice. It also explains Whale-Ghost’s decision to use Dad as a vessel. He was debating on whether it was worth it to be stuck in there forever. That just adds on to the humor. That and Isaac’s permanent anime hair. 

Max’s comments make my life. How he is just done with everything but rolls with it because why not. He is so snarky it’s great. I want to see what kind of power Max has, and also what kind of ghost is in his bat.

Johnny is always a riot. He has some anger issues, we all agree on that. But he is oddly so wholesome to his friends. And he is weirdly honest about his actions that it is kind of refreshing to see? Is that weird? I hope he spent that 50 cents well.

Par 118 End

This seems like a good place to stop. I will see how Terezi fucks with the queen tomorrow.

So Hussie’s meta game is on point, we can all agree to that.

The dream bodies are like extra lives. This doesn’t explain why Feferi kissed his corpse and not realize what would happen. Maybe she never had a chance to use it yet, or thought of some other stupid thing to do. Who knows.

The Exiles ARE the voices like with the humans. I figured that out since Aradia’s voice problems. And Deuce is going to get himself screwed with Sollux.

And shit the Black Queen, Snowman. She is back and looking for vengeance. She tried for Vriska, but Vriska is so focused on herself and her needs, she isn’t useful for Snowman. Score one for Vriska. Now though, Snowman has her eyes on Terezi. And I feel like this is going to be a psychological battle of wits, and who can get under each other’s skins first.

So seeing how I am already at the end of chapter 2, this is the best place as any to end it.

It is cool to see Max get into his first battle with a ghost, and we have some really nifty hints over what the ghosts and their powers can do.

It looks like general ghosts can sense the presence of other ghosts. They can only touch other paranormal objects, so it is strange for ghosts to touch people and weapons. So Max is a strange one even for the ghosts.

Based on Frog Man, Spectrals aren’t always allies to ghosts. Sure they stop rampaging ones, but nothing points to them actually helping them. Ghosts could possess people or objects, but it sounds like they are physically tying their being to a specific object. Sort of like a phylactery for a litch. And the kids can use them as tools, and it sounds like they have a lot of tools then. I feel sort of bad for the ghosts. Like maybe there is a way out or something, or a way for them to talk. Because Frog Man was funny and I want him back.

Max’s mom or someone threw the soup. We can all agree on that.

And the Snake thing, that is coming back. It seems to be another realm or astral plane or something like that. Somewhere dangerous. I mean, time froze damn it, and Max was the one to see it! Max has a stronger power than anything the kids/Spender has every seen.

This was a good step in the right direction!

Part 117 End

Yeah no. It’s ok. I’m done for today.

So, that was an emotional roller coaster this session

First Eridan and Feferi break up.

Then Sollux Dies.

Then Sollux’s dream body wakes up.

Then we see Jack who is currently Dying

Then Troll Hussie and the 4th wall appears because apparently we need a comedic break through all of this nonsense.

Ugh, so many emotions.

So overall guesses: Gamzee is Eridan’s True Moirail. Both bodies can’t be awake at once, so Human Jade and Dream Sollux are still alive and only in those bodies. The Royal Blood gives powers to Awaken the Dream versions. And Karkat and Sollux were like, Clubs or something. Or Karkat really does care about his friends that hard.

So I am going to end it here for the day. It is getting late and I need a break.

Max finally finds out about the ghosts and the things that goes bump in the night. Spender really didn’t sell the club too well on him, but at least Max understands the “zombie”/”magic”/”ghost” part. He can now see all ghosts, even those in his house. And we meet PJ, who is if Casper as the self confidence of a fart. I feel sorry for the ghosts, because they are ghosts and had to have died to be like this. And based on what PJ said, it isn’t pretty.

So we get some exposition on the Psychic Side, as well as the Ghost side.

look at that. I am at chapter 2 y’all. So I finished chapter one.

Chapter One is really cool. It introduced use to a bunch of fun and exciting characters from the start. From friends to foes to not-really foes. It showed Max developing powers, hinted at the Activities club until the big reveal at the end. And the colors man. The art in this is so simple but very expressive. I almost forgot that this comic started in Black and White. This was a great 1st chapter on Max’s First day in a new town.

Part 116 End

So that is where I end it for today.

We get to learn more about Feferi and Eridan. Even though they have different ideals, it is nice to see them have such a pleasant and casual relationship with each other. And oh ho ho, it looks like that Feferi might reciprocate Eridan’s HEART feelings. I am honestly rooting for them to be together. They are the (literal) power couple.

I am lso, strangely enought, rooting for Eridan’s SPADE relationship with Vriska. Maybe. I like the idea of Eridan and Tavros fighting it out for the honor of Vriska’s hate. But he seemed for human talking about his romances and feelings for Vriska (even if they were pretty fucked up on the murder spectrum for both parties).

I now have a new theory that Harvey’s ship was the one that crashed in time and gave Vriska and Eridan the dice and gun. I mean, why else have his space ship look like a fucking carrier ship. (or make his carrier ship fly in space you know we never actually solved that one)

And the kids did infect the trolls. That has to be it. From Kanaya being exactly part Rose and Part Jade. Eridan is Rose/Dave/Jade mix. And Karkat is ALLLLLLL John. They somehow screwed with the Troll’s DNA. I don’t know how, probably deals with more time travel, but I think that’s what happened.

Well that does it for this round.

So we have a bigger cast than I normally thought. Got our official introduction to the people behind the mysterious “activitives club”. Ed, Issac, and Isabel with the Teacher Mr. Spender. (I called it being 3 kids already from the beginning). Looks like they are used to the ghosts and have their own fancy magic ghost hunting tools. I wonder if it fits to their personality, or just random objects.

The ghosts are…eccentric. You get the cool spirits like the bat and cow-dragon. Then you have…Toby Determined: Ghost Form. That is basically him, you can’t tell me otherwise.

I am glad that Johnny’s mission of getting vengeance is over. All that for a fee of 50 cents. Whatever you do better be fucking relavent, or hilarious. I will accept either.

And let us not forget the best character introduction: MR. STARCHMAN. I will no joke KILL for that man. I love him so so much. I want that fucking star.

After much though, I have decided that my 3 favorite characters are Dad, Garcias the Teacher, and Starchman. They all deserve love.

Part 115 End

So I finally met the fish people. … that’s about it. It took way way WAY too long with the whale killing to actually get somewhere.

But Eridan is an evil fishlord who is a melodramatic dork that hates those beneath him. Feferi is a literal princess and next in line for the throne. I love how she will use her powers for kindness and protection. I love how Eridan doesn’t care about killing things as long as it either helps his genocidal tendencies or helps Feferi.

That’s about it for this round.

Besides the fact that Ferefi’s lusus is a nightmare chicken that predicted the world ending and them working together with the humans. No biggy

So that was interesting. Not only do we have a wide range of characters from the group of four from last time, but the whole school is filled with them. Suzy the energetic go getting journalist, Dimitri the chill editor, Garcias the done teacher, and that is just to name a few.

Johnny will never not entertain me. Him and Max make the best reactions.

And we now know that there are others who can see the ghosts, who have a group with then in the school, and who have their eye on Max. I get the feeling that Mr. Teach there knows more about Max’s power then he let’s on. I also am wondering if he is also a ghost. Could be a possibility. But we’ll see when Max gets his answers.

Part 114 End

I am bushed. I will officially meet Darth Fish tomorrow.

So, wow that was a lot. Like…wow.

First, Vriska is super infatiated with Tavros and that is why she has an anger/romance thing with him. Or at least keeps pushing him to be tougher. God I can’t believe she was trying to do something romantic by roleplaying as tinkerbell. She had that shit planned when she was about to confess her love.

I am thankful that she didn’t go through with kissing him when she had him under mind control. Because that wasn’t what she wanted. Did she still apologize to him about his legs? No. But At least no I get her feelings.

And Kanaya. Oh my poor girl. She wanted to be there with Vriska, but she got so heartbroken. That entire moment was just so sad.

And now I know the 4 level shipping chart, and I get the feeling that I get the chart, but not completely. Still, it is nice to see Hussie just take a step back and explain the lore of his world like this.

Late night, going to end it here.

So we get to meet a new cast of characters. Johnny, Stephen, Ollie, and R.J. They are way too weird to not eventually be Max’s friends. They are so enjoyable to watch and they are all such dorks. I love them already.

And we get a mystery girl along with an introduction to Max’s ability. I am sure that the girl will eventually help Max out learning about the ghosts and what not. Or at least I think they are ghosts. They might be spirits for all I know. It is weird that they are all purple, maybe an artistic choice from Morrison? Either way, we got ourselves the first look at this town’s secrets

There is no way to take breaks, so I am going to use this as a nice little end card when I decide to stop.

So this comic…I instantly love it. I know that there wasn’t a lot that happened plot wise, but on man those small moments. All of this is just character development and exposition in such a tender way.

The dad is a dork and I love him. 100%. He is like if Present Mic has kids and lived in America. He is so weird, but loving to his kids, such a sweet and weird person.

Not too much time on Zoey, but she is adorable. A little werewolf kid in the package of a little kid.

Then there is Max. The new kid, trying to deal with his Dad and living situation. How he did not freak out more about the ghost dream, I do not know.

But man, the art. The ART! It looked so wholesome as black/white sketches, and it is gorgeous using colors. Even if they weren’t fully colorized, Morrison’s use of single colors to set the mood is amazing.

I cannot wait to see Max’s trip around the neighborhood.

It isn’t really bad bad. She just gets was too wild and impulsive, and she doesn’t stop herself when her emotions are like this.

Thank god Kanaya is there to try and reel her in. Mom Friend to the rescue!

Going to stop here for the day.

A lot of questions have been answered.

First is my Zodiac Sign: FishBoy. He is so fucking cool to read. He is a dork for his gf (moirail, whatever the fuck that means). But he is also a genocidal king who is on a quest to purge the universe from those that are “unfit”. Having Kanaya be his loyal advisor or in the role as one is very interesting.

I do honestly like him. Like he is confident, evil, dork in love, but is a mastermind for his “purpose”. Plus his biker Jersey accent that I imagine him in, and we have a wonderful addition to the gang.

Karkat and FishBoy have a lot in common when it comes to love just saying

And I knew it! I knew that Rose’s device was going to go to the Trolls because of course it is!!! This comic is LITTERED with time travel shenanigans. And this is why Kanaya is sooo like Rose, she is mimicking the pose/writing in her own speech. God I am screaming. I was right, ahahaha!!!!!

Nope. I’m done. I will read about Kanaya’s newly acquired vampirism later.

So I finally meet her. I knew she was so similar to Rose. She is practically a mash of of Jade’s plant and science skills with Rose’s logical thought and fashion. At the trolls apparently see green blood as a Mother Earth to repopulate the planet. Yeah, those are in short supply.

The conversation we have of Ariel is interesting. She knows things (the PTHOOOOO people). And it sounds like it comes from her lusus for information gathering. I feel that there is more to her than her obvious bubbly nature. But either way, I think I’m going to like her.
