Just a list, no full summary because I already did one before this session
1. Karkat
2. Gamzee
3. Terezi
4. Kitty Cat
5. Sollux
-Yeah he moved up the ranks. I still don’t like his self deprecating nature, but his misguided scientist vibe I am getting from him really resonates with me here. His intent for good, and action to try and stop himself from causing bad really outshines over any negativity he shows
6. Torus
7. Goth
8. Ghost Chick
-She has no soul and is honestly terrifying. Like not in the badass way of killing someone, but as a “how does she not care about any of this, this freaks me out”. Like if I met her in person, I would be freaked out.
You know what? Side bar: It would be really interesting for the whole point of SBURB is to populate the universe with the Chess Pieces.
Think about it, it is like a Freeza thing from DBZ. Have the inhabitants of the plant kill themselves, let them be trapped in the Medium and live there, and the “refugees” that come out repopulate the planet with their own kind.
It is completely unnecessary and batshit crazy, but if that is the end game for SBURB, then I’m down with it.
Yeah it is our Gruff boy himself. Our fluff-master himself.
Which is surprising to me because at the beginning, I hated this guy. I hated how he was rude and treating Jade and I thought for sure it would be a dark day for me to start liking him.
But then I actually did start liking him. He tends to be pessimistic, but nothing absurd. He seems to be done with exerything and just tired, but he also just keeps going? When he was talking to John, he was actually trying to be a decent person, so that helped me like and understand him to when he was still somewhat trash because I know that he can change to be that good person.
I think that what sets it for me, is that it seems out of all the trolls, Karkat seems to be the most realistic. Because he does fail, he does screw up, he is a lot like John, and is just a kid who wants to prove himself to the world.
2. Gamzee (Juggalo)
He is such a weird ass man. From the clown religion, to the drugs, and randomly eating shit. But honestly? He is a pretty chill dude. I love how he has this hippie vibe to him but still seems genuine about his optimism. He really does care for Karkat, and accepts whatever is thrown at him. I love how he refuses to listen to science because it ruins the “miracles”, so he is someone that I can see just hanging out with.
3. Terezi
I live off of her chaotic energy. It warms my heart that she was still just as crazy as before. Her “lawyering” was somewhat scary because of how well the drama was for her, and I fully believe she could be a super-villain if given the chance. She is able to make jokes about her blindness (and feeds off of the uncomfortableness of her enemies when she points this out), and this does nothing to stop her in her life. She is absolutely crazy and I love her for it.
4. Kitty Cat
Yeah, only just entered and she just jumped into the polls. She is TOO CUTE!!! Look at that face! How adorable.
But that isn’t the only reason. I really like how she hits it off well with Terezi. Their chat roleplay was cute and fun, and she seems like a good child for asking permission to play. I don’t trust whoever the guy she has to ask is (maybe her lusus, idk), but she seems like a generally sweet girl.
5. Torus
Yeah, it is nice to see him and Jade talk to each other. There really isn’t any new information about him yet. He is a nice guy who tries to hard to be evil and gets screwed because of it. If he talks more like how he did with Jade, then maybe he would be higher up, but in the end the lack of information compared to the others is what kills him here.
6. Goth
She is just a snooty ass. I mean, I get why she thinks that Rose is an idiot (because of John). But then she just treats Rose like she is an idiot for the rest of the time without really looking at Rose’s responses, just because she is frustrated. She just think that Rose just puts this on. Plus, as high talking as she is, she was the idiot to talk to Rose out of order instead of having some form of pattern to talk to her. Come on Goth, seriously. She might be “smart” but she is pretty dumb.
The only plus side is that now she is coming around in terms of how to treat Rose. It isn’t much, but at least there is a change here.
7. Sollux
Ok so when we first met at the “hacker” he was a pessimistic gruff boy who knows that they were going to die, but still did his job regardless. I appreciate that.
Now we know he always seems to be a pessimistic boy with bipolar disorder. When he is in the zone, like with his coding, he is in the zone. And I do like his “I See so much I need to blind myself for the power is too great” type of storyline he has here.
The reason he is now last in the list is, while I do like him for these qualities, it’s his downer moments that I can’t jive with. his “I suck at everything” “maybe my decision is trash” stuff. I know that we were just hinted at this, and that he does have bipolar disorder, but I know people who do this, intentionally or not, and it is just a cycle and exhausting. Hopefully I can see more of his good traits later on, and maybe he’ll be able to rise in the ranks later.
Honorable Mentions (Since We haven’t gotten any information on them yet)
1. Ghost-Chick
I appreciate the eternal ghost vibe that I am getting from her. And yes, due to Sollux’s ability I believe this is her natural power. I want to know why she is in perminant hero mode. Mysterious Badass is always interesting.
2. Evil Fish
Really not much going on with this guy. Only 1 sentence, and he sounds like an arrogent, egotistical asshole from that. But really it is because of the lack of information that he last here to begin with.
That is where I am going to end it here. Again, that you for following me through 1 full month of Homestuck liveblogging. Let’s keep this streak going to the end of February.
So we got to meet IT, who is Sollux. (That is such a weird/bad name I cant). He is an anxious boy, and I can’t believe I got the Bipolar stuff down right off the bat. I don’t understand why some trolls have super powers and others are like Karkat, but to each their own I guess.
Kitty Cat is super super cute. Honestly, she is adorable and I love her and she is mine now.
Ghost chick is terrifying, and I can’t wait to see who see really is.
Alright, I’m out. Got work to do and not much privacy on a video at the moment.
So Karkat is in the game and is feeling the hassle/annoyance of being the first guy in. Honestly, it is his fault for not knowing what Leader does.
We kept hopping around timelines here and met Ghost-Chick and AquaVillain here. And unfortunately, the Aquarius Troll does sound like a tool. That stinks.
And I learned more about troll culture than I ever want to know. It is like they built themselves in preparation for the game (and they probably did). If genetic creations are something they do normally, then it wouldn’t be that weird for Karkat to do himself (outside of creating himself and friends).
And is the reason that Terezi doesn’t have a LUSUS is because they are subterranean monsters and she lives in a tree? Because I think so.
Yeah sorry for the stilted blogging here. I’m technically supposed to work right now, so that’s why it took longer than normal.
Well Terezi is a pretty good people person, in her own weird way. We get to meet Catgirl, and their roleplay thing was so adorable. And yeah, Terezi and Karkat don’t really hit it off well that much. Karkat has a bloated ego for a depressed boy, either that or an inferiority complex.
Well, at least I know over half the trolls by now. So we are getting there
That is it for me. I need to go do work stuff now.
So this entire session was meeting Terezi in her regular life. And because of that, she just because more terrifying in my eyes. Like, yeah her court case drama was really well played out, but seeing a real life adult do that in court would be terrible. I’m honestly now more afraid of her than ever before, and I already was in fear and awe of her raw chaotic energy.
So obviously she is one of my top trolls here.
I am still going to bookmark her laptop. I get the feeling it is like undertale where I will need to go back and open it later. God I really want to know what is in her computer!
I am stopping here, because I am tired and need sleep.
I learn a lot more about the Trolls. Or at least Karkat and IT. They have an antagonistic friendship that I think it works, though sometimes with the way they antagonize each other it comes off as a bit more serious.
I mean, when we read Karkat’s inner monologue, we saw he wanted to destroy the world with a virus and would rather feel numb than be angry, so some of the stuff he said concerns me.
So overall of these guys, IT is a crazy hacker who would tamper with the Nuclear Button just to see what it does, and Karkat is an edgy tsundere and nothing will change my mind on that front.
The programs that they make sucks, and I now realize why IT might have made it into a game in the first place. Because Rose launched the walk through and he wanted to try it.
Well, at least I gave my guesses on the meaning of the handle names. And who knows, maybe I got a few of them right.
So we have the introduction of the new troll Gamzee, one we have not met before. And in just 3 sentences he is already #2 in my Troll Ranking. Yes I am still doing that, but I will do the full explaination tomorrow when I have more time.
Overall, Gamzee is a positive person without sounding like a naive idiot, but it also high as well. I absolutely love my weird Juggalo troll.
There was also hint about the blood thing, I guess Blue = rich/high. So if it is in the color spectrum and blue is high, does that mean it goes like
RED – – – – – – – – – – – – – PURPLE
POOR – – – – – – – – – – – – RICH
Just a guess, but I might be onto something
and we hear sayings from out IT guy again (I had to go back to make sure I knew who they were talking about) and yeah, gruff personalities tend to flock together
So we get the introduction of the Trolls, specifically the newly named Karkat. It is going to be weird to call you that and not Candy Corn, but I will make the change. And if you weren’t an depressed emo already, you were definitely one way way WAY back then
And I guess no matter how weird a culture is, people will always have problems with their storage units
I can’t yall. I can’t. I thought I would have made it to Act 5. But I haven’t. I know I am getting close, but I am going to stop it here for today.
This entire session, it was just so somber. I mean, I am getting answers about how and why the Exiles are out, and I finally got to know the secret of the box (I called it that it was the rabbit, but who would have guessed all of it’s features), but this was heavy stuff.
We saw a friend die, parents and friends reacting to it, a hopeful mess from the past, a massacre and pain from the exiles, a villain rise up, but hope does as well.
Ok, so this is where I am leaving off. It is late and I am going to bed. So I will start the next session with (hopefully) the last video of Act 4 and move on to act 5.
It is nice to see more interactions between different trolls and the kids. I am afraid over what having the dream self dying means. And how deep does the PTSD run in Dave, because that is not right.
Also I live for the moment when Goth found out that John just got her good
So I have come to the end of Act 4. Starting from Session 53 to Session 82. It took me 30 reads to get through this entire thing, and since we still haven’t reached post 2000 it is going to take even longer next time.
Overall, wow did we get to know more about the lore. Rose and Dave are in the Medium on their own planets, and we finally get hints and secrets about what the adults are doing/what happened.
The Trolls got to show off their beautiful faces, and yeah they are now endearing to me than just strictly trash. I now get why people like the Trolls, it just takes a while to get use to them. Of course, we only met 6 of them, so the other six might just be assholes, who knows. But I will give them a chance now.
So there were many, many reveals over the course of Act 4, but 4 of them really strike out in my mind.
1st: The Exiles
The fact that they are actual game pieces that got kicked off of the board definitely surprised me. I mean I figured they weren’t human, but I didn’t expect that. Each with their own lives/past as they try to thrive on the new planet. The fact that Mayor led a revolt to save his farm just kills me. He is such a sweet guy.
Of course when I saw the Midnight Crew in The Kid’s Server I thought there was something screwy afoot. Like multideminsional brainwash time deal. But nope! The Crew was the Exiles for the Trolls! And the people we saw was their previous life before being exiled. What a twist!
But now here I am thinking, there are 4 exiles in John’s Session, and 5 in the Trolls. So if it is 1 Exile per Player, that means there are still 7 more to find in the Trolls session, if they still matter.
2nd: Future Dave.
So I get that Time Travel is a big thing with the Trolls and Chat logs. Hussie must have had a hard time trying to come up with all of that to be honest. But seeing a world where Dave and Rose are just by themselves for almost a year, that just tears me up. It shows how deadly and serious this game is, they could actually die. (hell Hussie showed Dave’s dead body on screen to after this). But seeing him going back in time to save his friend and help them all, it is just so uplifting.
3rd: The Parents
So I had a feeling that the adults knew more than they let on, but this is something else. John making their existence plus his friends and his own really throws you in for a loop. They were probably individually researching the meteors that have lead them to this moment, whether by science, investigation, exploration, or whatever the fuck Bro does. I also wish we would get more interactions between the kids and their guardians, but that might happen later. There is still more to come, but this was a good set up for eventual answers
4th: Jack Noir
Listen, I had this guy pegged as a salty 2-bit side villain before meeting with the queen. And honestly? He’s great as that! A salty, jaded person who you know is a dick and an ass, but will 100% be ruthless with paperwork when needed. I thought Hussie was going to keep him in that role for a while, but what a twist when he rose to power! Now he is in control and things get bad. And I know that the imagery had set the mood for how much of a “big bad” he was, but now I have a better explanation for why I fear this guy.
We know now that Spade Slick was the Exile for the Troll’s Session, and Homestuck got it’s first introduction to him through that Intermission. I’m not sure if the intermission has a bigger part to play by pulling characters later on into here, but it definitely gives us an idea of who Slick was. He is ruthless, cunning, violent, hell we saw him bash someone’s head in with a pipe! And though I like him, I know well enough he is not a man to mess around with.
So since Slick is a copy of Noir, while not exact, I know that the same cunning, ambition, and ruthlessness still remains. And he is in control. Oh man, what a great villain!
There are probably other moments of Act 4 that I could touch up on, like the kids reactions to the game, the overall planet feeling, etc etc, but there was just so much to remember! I started Act 4 in November, that was 3 months ago!
But overall, Act 4 is like the the 3rd quest people do. You now know enough of the basics to get to the really good stuff, but there is still so much more to learn for the overarching story line
That’s it. I’m Done. I’m Hungry. So calling it here.
The kids and their parents were delivered by the Superman Delivery System. When a meteor crashes someone has to die, whether on impact or as the aftermath (looking at you baby Harley). And whatever they crash, that kid gets an interest in that thing.
Nanna crashed into a bakery, so she is interested in baking. Harley crashes into a dog house, so he likes dogs and adventure. John crashes into a joke shop, like jokes. Dave crashes into a record store, likes music.
And I guess all of the SBURB players have to do the same thing, seriously, why would they do this. Poor Trolls.
DD is the one that is screwed with the dog, which probably killed/injured DD because he is evil, and that is why Judge was scared of the dog.
So much information, got to love this lore/backstory
Out of all the shit I posted on my main blog, this is the thing that got flagged
Alright I think I am done for now, got some other stuff to take care of.
So There are gods on the sky planet, and Rose and O-Dave met/know them. And like Dave said they are space mutants. At least Rose has some memories over what happens in the future.
So Dave fucked up. O-Dave didn’t copy the book because John never rocket launched himself into Rose’s room and found the book. So when he did that, Dave copied it and the Gods felt the “oh shit danger will robinson” alert and told Rose to destroy it.
But it got fucked up because Diamond there took the book (why was he even slinking around here in the first place?). So whatever code is in that book, Chess Boy Jack has his claws on it.
And Dave can’t time travel, or at least time travel well. The better thing to do was to go back in time and grab the book/ set traps while making all that shit. But I honestly glad Dave is taking the time travel thing low-key. I don’t want him to get use to seeing his own dead body everywhere. That just isn’t healthy.
And John is seeing what the adults showed each other. That Gramps showed how it was his fault that the factory exploded, which prompted Dad to go detective mode to research the meteors. So we get important information without the full story. What a mystery!
