This is a
hard one. It really really is. Because I am trying not to be influenced by the
plot of the story, and only judging the characters as they are on a whole.
But it is
hard because I don’t know where the line is now anymore.
Viska
jumped, because of what she wrote to John. Was she in the right? No, trying to
kill Jack would have lead him to kill the rest of them. As hard as it was,
Terezi did the right choice in killing her.
But she
repented. She wanted to make up for all the bad things she did. She was open
and honest about her feelings with John and
about
her murder past
wanting to hang out with him. She wanted to save her friends from Jack, wanted to try and
die like a hero. She knew she was going to die, so she wanted to die like a
hero. And instead she was killed off as a villain. And that is something cruel
and heartbreaking, and unfortunately was unsurprising. I mean, after everything
she was doing and putting everyone in danger, yeah she was going to die perminantly.
But, I honestly have more respect for her knowing her intent, even if it didn’t
match up entirely with her actions.
And Gamzee has now moved to the bottom. He has passed down
past Eridan. The reason is simple: He purposefully decapitated all of the
corpses, after placing them calculatingly to set up the duel between Terezi and
Vriska, and used their head as a fucked up jury. He adopted Cal as his puppet
minion which I have no idea how he has that thing of nightmares since that was
what Kanaya had a long time ago. And If I were given a choice of meeting Eridan
and Gamzee in the middle of the night, I would pick Eridan. Because at least I
would be given a chance at survival.
So this is having some jumps and mix reviews, I don’t know where to begin.
Well…Gamzee went down for starters. His Dark Villain Reveal wore off pretty fast. I still like him, but not as much (especially with nepeta’s blood on his club).
Sollux and Nepeta switched. Nothing major about that, Sollux just has a low-key sass to him that I admire.
Kanaya and Equius rose up too. Kanaya for her badass moment of vengeance (which was so so cool) and thinking about it, I still really do like Equius’s relationship with Nepeta. I mean, I was against it at first before I knew what it was like, but now I dig it and appreciate the new side of Equius (before he fucking died of course).
Vriska rose and is tied with Terezi. She is so fucking complicated, but at the same time so very relatable and I know that she messes up A LOT but the fact that she still tries give me hope, I guess. So they are tied in the middle.
Feferi went down. It isn’t on her persay. Just that, 1) She seems too perfect and 2) not a lot of screen time. So she got pushed down for more favorable trolls.
Same with Tavros. Sorry bud, you seem sweet and I do like you. But you are also WAY too passive looking back in hindsight.
Aradia increased. A little. I like her chill gentle vibe as a grim reaper person, so emotions are boosting her up. But not much, I need to see more before she can go up farther.
And Karkat….I don’t know why Karkat is staying as number one. Maybe it is because I feel like I would betray him if I choose someone else? Maybe because I have seen him the most compared to the other trolls and thus make him my favorite by default? Maybe I just love the inner softy type person, gruff with a heart of gold. Either way, he is still number one.
Gamzee was this fucking close to making the top 3. THIS fucking close. How can I still fucking like a psychopathic murderer. HOW!?!?
So I guess I am going to explain my feelings on The Evil Three.
Eridan, he is a whiny entitled prat who forces unwanted feelings on everyone and everything. I use to think he was cute when he was with Feferi, but after realizing his behavior with everyone, I think he is fucking trash. And when he didn’t get the companionship he wanted, he threw everything away for a chance at his own survival by trying to side with Jack. He fucking killed the Matriarch Orb Thing out of Spite because things didn’t go his way, he is trash and I hate him.
Vriska….she is complicated. I can understand why people like her, and I do too. He is cocky, confident, aggressive, assertive, she takes control of her own life but loves to risk it all on the roll of the dice. But…she is scary, unhinged. Like anything can set her off to attack, so make the wrong move and you are dead. She pushes everyone aside to her glory and her plans, it doesn’t matter who she hurts. The worst is that, while she will get invested in you, it is only to try and bring you up to her level. Like you are unworthy unless you prove yourself to her over and over again. The is a difference between trying to toughen someone up and then groom them to your ideal person, and Vriska straddles that line. Add that in with her need to be the best, so she must be the beginning AND the end to the fucking Ultimate Villain, and that is just a disaster waiting to happen.
So….why….Fucking Gamzee is different than both of these kids, Gamzee is on a whole ‘nother level. He is smart, crafty from stealing the glasses, sadistic to playing the field. He is confident to the point of having power, he doesn’t need to show you how better he is like the other two, he knows it and takes charge around it. There is something…idk….seductive?…..about how he managed to handle himself. I assumed that his text were just him talking and shouting, but his facial expressions when attacking Equius and Nepeta were impassive and unimpressed. The flaws that he has to his character are, at the moment, unaffecting him. He is psychotic, but that isn’t hindering him in the way Eridan’s egotism and Vriska’s glory affect them.
And I really can’t let go of his past high self, I still like that part and want that Gamzee back 😦
Please note that this not that this does not mean that I am not terrified of the Clown, I still am.
And Nepeta and Equius made a jump up in the polls too….It seems like the couples get higher after they fucking DIED so fucking thanks Hussie.
Equius trying to be pleasing with Nepeta and talk about feelings, and trying to roleplay was fucking adorable. And he really did put Nepeta’s protection over his own, which is something I respected.
Nepeta’s cat faces are the cutest, but she does have a hissy feisty side to her. She isn’t afraid to give Equius a piece of her mind, and is not putting up with Eridan’s bullshit either. I fucking love that.
So….that sort of shook up the game. Let’s tackle some of the easier reasons first.
Eridan is the bottom, hands down. Betrayal is huge no no, and then to go and try to side with Jack? How cowardly is that! At least with Vriska, while I can’t like her for her actions and reasoning, at least her end goal is still to fight and beat Jack, not try to serve him. Plus, added into his constant flirting, trying to force people for companionship/red and black relationship, and his constant need to kill and murder things that don’t need to be killed and murdered (the angels), he is just tainted all around. I feel like, looking back, they should have been warning signs for him to turn traitor. God I hate my Troll so much.
Sollux jumped to #2. As sad as what happened between him and Feferi, he was actually genuinely charming, sassy, funny as hell, really cared for Feferi. We don’t see much of him, but when he does come onstage he really does shine.
And honestly? I was debating on switching him with Karkat for 1st. That is how far he jumped. So just keep an eye out for that.
And…well, the biggest question on everyone’s minds is probably Gamzee.
Why is Gamzee not any lower?
Well…it’s because we never saw him interact with anyone in person yet. Was his text type creepy as fuck? Hell yes it was. But he hasn’t really…done anything yet, other than being creepy. It…it is honestly hard to judge him right now, so I decided to stick him into the middle, neutral ground, until I can get a good vibe from him. (though the vibe probably won’t be good actually.)
I was also debating on whether or not to have a separate judging for High!Gamzee and Sober!Gamzee, but in the end I decided it wasn’t fair. The rank should judge the kids based on their current selves/actions with whatever information I had previously learned about them. It was what I did with Aradia, so Gamzee shouldn’t be excepted from it either.
This should literally come to the shock of no one. Like, I am 100% sure that I mentioned that betrayal/murder was my criteria to being down and the bottom. And would you look at that? Vriska literally did that. She did to that. She just stabbed my boy with glee on her face because she just did not care.
And Aradia rose higher because A) what she did to Jack, knowing that she had to explode to fight/stall Jack and B) there is no way in hell I am having Eridan “Nice Guy”

Sorry, but I’m probably not going to do a human ranking for Homestuck. I don’t know why, it it’s different for the Kids.
First, with the 4 of them it isn’t really that much of a ranking. There is only four. And even if you add in the adults, the kids are obviously going to take up the top spots, so it would basically be a rank for kids and a rank for adults.
But mainly, it just feels different. It is hard to explain, but I feel that because I spent so much more time with the kids before the trolls came in, that I was really able to meet at talk to them and know them, that I can’t rank them.
Sure I can have a favorite among the humans (John), but to say that he is the best of the four of them doesn’t sit well for me. They are all the best in my eyes.
I think the Troll Rank works because the Trolls act more as side characters, they are one of the most popular things about homestuck so everyone knows about the trolls, and that since there are 12 of them there is a larger rank to have. Plus the fact that they were introduced separately make the rank more engaging to see the change.
TL;DR: I’m not going to rank the humans. The adults are too weak and the kids are too strong to have an actual chart for them.
And the Troll Rank got fucked again. I feel like recently, it is due more to characters going down than actually moving up.
This is hard people. Because I am trying to separate me liking a character and me liking a character’s plot line. Because Vriska has a fucking amazing plot line, like, she is so fucked up. Cocky, arrogant, literally thinks herself as a savoir when she intentionally sets up every awful thing that had happened. That is a fun read!
But she is awful!
Like, honestly, when I started reading this, I was going to drop her by how she was treating Tavros. She was still belittling him, hating on him, backhanded complements, and even was encouraging him to do more mind-fucked up things like what she is. Like, that is fucking textbook abusive manipulation Mean Girls shit. That was going to drop her some.
But then it continued to her not giving a fuck about anyone. Not for Jade, or the humans, or even the other trolls. Like, she can say it is to keep a stable time-line, and that is true, but in reality it is because SHE wants to be the victor, and SHE needs to be the one to defeat Jack to prove it to everyone. That shit is going to drag so many people down it is scary.
And I can’t blame Scratch on what she did in this game, because he said he stopped screwing with her once she started playing. So ALL of this, is ALL Pure Vriska.
Like, my dude, no.
The only reason she is not 12 at the moment is that she still has emotions, hopes, and dreams. I really can’t identify with Aradia’s lack of emotion and lazzefaire attitude to fate and her ultimate demise. So it really isn’t any some smidge of Vriska’s ability, but from a lack of Aradia’s.
So with her moving down, people moved up.
Tavros is higher now. Yeah, that conversation with Jade and him trying to be in a relationship was awkward and weird, and yes his “super assrtive self confidence” really did come off as insecure. But how he treated Vriska, how he stood up for himself and Jade, and called Vriska out for her evil dick deeds, and admits that he is scared but still willing to throw down, yeah man. I have mad respect for that.
Feferi went down. Thinking about her creepy dream-ghost moment…yeah that still puts me on edge. While she is someone I could hang with without terrifying ghost nightmares, it is something for me to be wary of.
So the OG3 are back on the top.
For Now.
Kanaya and Equius moved up too. I may not get al of her sarcasm with Kanaya, but if she and I met in real life, I feel like her straight-forwardness and deadpan dramatics would be fun to talk to. As well as her dedication to make sure her friend isn’t hurt.
Equius…yeah he is up there. I am not sure if he should be over Sollux oddly enough. I like Sollux sass, though I am not a fan of his deprication moments. And while Equius has his….issues….he is trying to help, grew enough to try and not let his blood-caste shit be bothersome (try being the key word) and honestly…I liked him talking to Dave. He actually tried and wasn’t a total commanding douche. So I raised him. They are both still tied because I don’t know which is which, but still has to count for something.
Yeah Vriska fucked up my most of my ranking here. Thanks a lot for that.
Don’t get me wrong, I love her story line, I love her character development, I love her cocky attitude and her badass leanings.
But if I saw her in person I would be terrified. She is nuts! Recklessness, rash, evil villain vibes. She is someone I would be afraid to be friends with (and rightly so) so I feel like, if this was real life Vriska, she would be ranked lower. For my own good.
And because she moved lower, everyone else got jumbled up. Feferi and Gamzee seem like my kind of crowd to chill with, along with Karkat, so they moved up. And I have Tavros and Nepeta tied because they are sweet people, and in real life I would probably want to be friends with both.
yeah…this is a fucking shocker huh? ….Equius jumped higher…yeah….
Eridan was going down again because of his neediness. I like reading him but honestly? I feel the same with Equius. As weird as he is, he is at least honest and fun to mess around with. I don’t think I can stick him higher than Kanaya though, she can be slightly snooty but nice. So I have them tied for 9th.
More changes to the Troll Rank, due to the last session and the game play. I think seeing them as sprites and interact with each other really did help me majorly adjust my list. Feferi is pretty nice, well balanced, and is a pretty fun party girl. She can adapted to any situation depending on if Karkat, Terezi, or Vriska was talking to her, and is a thinker. Therefore, even though I don’t have much to go for her, she managed to jup up higher on the list.
Sollux’s puns and deadpanness is pretty entertaining, same with Kanaya, but they ended up going lower on the list. Tavros and Nepeta really shined here. They were so cute and adorable and I really do wish that Nepeta gets more screen time eventually, but their reactions managed to get them higher in the list.
Yeah Eridan dropped. A lot. He is very entertaining to read, but as of this moment with Rose…yeah he is just way way too needy for his stupid hate-mate here. Rose is baller. She did the right thing.
And would you look at that, Equius managed to rise in the ranks. His interactions with the other trolls were pretty funny, I can’t lie about that. It still freaks me out, and I was siding so hard with Karkat when the two of them were speaking, but I did have fun reading their bullshit. Plus, Aradia is pretty sad and depressing with her knowledge of “can’t change the future so just accept it” crap. Yeah….she is a bit of a bummer here. So she is back at the bottom, and Equius is number 11. Huzzah.
I have decided to try and change the Troll Rank as often as I can, so that way it will be more fresher this way. (whether or not I will be able to continue this trek is up in the air)
I guess my top two are the angst trolls here. The once that to me are currently getting a redemption arc in some way/shape/form. It could be that they have the most screen time too –let’s be real Nepeta and Feferi barely have any screen time ever – but I just really like seeing thier change, to see that Karkat and Vriska can choose to be good, and even when doing bad things they can still Try.
Kanaya went up after now understanding how her side of the conversations went, and Sollux went up because, well, I decided that I liked him more than Eridan. Why? Because I can.
Karkat still has my heart. I just can’t seem to throw him away after all that he went through (like his final memo)
I still like Vriska. Even though I literally just saw her blind Terezi, I just get the feeling that from her and Tavros and Kanaya, that she can be a good person. That she is a good person.
Kanaya and Sollux went up too. Kanaya from the Karkat’s last memo moment, and I forgot how funny and chill Sollux can be. So they got lifted.
And yeah, Aradia and Equius are tied for last. I can’t bring myself to hate Equius more, but I also can’t like him more either. So tied. Aradia also dipped lower, ‘cause I still don’t know her personality other than “murder” and “soulless” even with a body now. So yeah, tied
Oh! That is such a good question! Why must you guys ask such hard questions here. God this is going to be tough, because it isn’t just getting higher. It is getting so high that they become the best. Oh man, that will be hard.
Nepeta: The reason why Nepeta was so low on the list was because, we haven’t seen too much with her. So I don’t know that much about her. And the information that I do know, she is a kind and playful girl with a wonder attitude. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough compared to others who got my attention faster.
If Nepeta wants to burst in the top spots, she needs more time to shine. I don’t really know she as much as a person than the others. Second, I feel like with her cat attitude, if she manages to keep her playful nature while managing to save herself and her friends, even in the face of pure adversity, that should pull her up.
Aradia: I liked her at first, but her apathy for the situation, her “it was always meant to be” shtick, took her down way way far. She needs to show emotion if there is any chance for her to go higher. I need something to connect to here. I liked her a lot pre-death. Where she had opinions and was defensive of Tavros. I need more of that. Maybe her dedication to go against the gods that force her in this role, a way to prove her own individuality and reclaim herself, even a spall portion of it, would be something.
Hell, as much as I hate her and Equius being together, her actually feeling rage and lust shows me that she is now much better in that tin can of a body that Equius built. So with the way things are going, she might have a chance here.
Equius: God do I really have to? Ugh, fine. For Equius to be in the TOP 3, he first needs to be a decent ass person. Stopping all of this high-key creeping, nazi fanboy behavior. That is just to get him to neutral territory.
To be higher…he needs to be decent to Aradia. If they are going to be together (fucking hell but I’ll live) then he needs to be the best damn MateSprite and Kisememis that he can fucking be. Actually care for her, fucking ask to roleplay with his kink.
Narratively, god. Build an army of Robots. Rally the troops to take down the bad guy. Literally take a bullet for someone you love, or bonus points for someone you hate. Given his military leanings, I doubt that he will completely give up his dedication for his blood order. But if he can turn that loyalty as a way of protecting Eridan and Feferi, even at risk of his own self, then he will gain my respect in that. All the more if when he does decide that the caste system is stupid.
They are actually tied. Again. For some reason, no matter how much information I hear, they are always equal to each other
I had to think hard, very very hard, on this question. The reason I am answering this now instead of before is because I wanted to make sure I had a well determined list on the troll rank before I tackle something like this. Because Damn, this is a super hard question.
What would drop Karkat, Gamzee, and Terezi down to be worst than Equius?
This can either be something another troll does to go UP in ranking, or some plot thing that the three would do to screw themselves up.
For this, I’m going to focus on the latter.
Terezi: she has a very strong need for justice. Wanting to “punish” those who were wrong. We already saw that she was chill with murdering other trolls as long as justice is done. She can abuse that. If her sense of justice overrides her thinking and she purposely targets her other friends, regardless of how that might effect the rest of the game. See, what makes this worst is that she isn’t like Aradia, where she will instinctively lash out in a fit of rage. Terezi is a lot more calculating than that. When she attacks it will be cold and detached, and that is what I would fear.
Gamzee: I have no idea why he is so high up on the list. We have barely seen him in comparison to the other trolls. We don’t even know what his medium looks like, but here we are. I like him because he is calm, happy, always open to everyone and everything. It is probably because he is high all the time, but still. So it would be the opposite of that. If he is no longer open. If he becomes paranoid of everything that he sees. Or worst, if he loses all his whimsy and just doesn’t care. If he becomes totally apathetic to everything around him, I think that would take him down.
Karkat: He is an angry boy, but we have seen why. He does have an inferiority complex, and lashes out in fear of anyone finding his blood. I am so happy that he is able to bond with Slick, to find someone for him.
I hated him first for attacking the Kids. I liked him now for him trying to change his attitude to the kids, and how he is able to continue to struggle with himself on how “wrong” he is, still fighting everyone’s perception.
For Karkat to be low…he can’t have a spark. He would have to shut down completely. No rage, no feelings, nothing. He accepts his lot in life, and no longer fights the system.
Or it can go the other way. He lets his inferiority complex consumes him like Monoma from My Hero Academia, where he feels the need to prove himself constantly, or feels to destroy everyone around him just to feel something.
This is the hardest question I have to answer because I can’t just saw “well he has to start world war 3″ or something because I like actual murderers more than the pacifists. This is me solely trying to judge based on personality and actions.
Here is the current ranking. The first full ranking of all of the trolls. It is hard. It is very hard to determine this list. Not only is it with all 12 trolls, but I wanted to try to do it based on their character alone. So no looking at past lists, no worrying about story lines. Who these kids are, and how well I like them.
If your favorites are low on the list, this isn’t to say who I hate the most (the only one I hate is Equius, but even then it is a disgusted annoyance than true hatred). So they are still well loved

-She has no soul and is honestly terrifying. Like not in the badass way of killing someone, but as a “how does she not care about any of this, this freaks me out”. Like if I met her in person, I would be freaked out.
Yeah it is our Gruff boy himself. Our fluff-master himself.
Which is surprising to me because at the beginning, I hated this guy. I hated how he was rude and treating Jade and I thought for sure it would be a dark day for me to start liking him.
But then I actually did start liking him. He tends to be pessimistic, but nothing absurd. He seems to be done with exerything and just tired, but he also just keeps going? When he was talking to John, he was actually trying to be a decent person, so that helped me like and understand him to when he was still somewhat trash because I know that he can change to be that good person.
I think that what sets it for me, is that it seems out of all the trolls, Karkat seems to be the most realistic. Because he does fail, he does screw up, he is a lot like John, and is just a kid who wants to prove himself to the world.
2. Gamzee (Juggalo)
He is such a weird ass man. From the clown religion, to the drugs, and randomly eating shit. But honestly? He is a pretty chill dude. I love how he has this hippie vibe to him but still seems genuine about his optimism. He really does care for Karkat, and accepts whatever is thrown at him. I love how he refuses to listen to science because it ruins the “miracles”, so he is someone that I can see just hanging out with.
3. Terezi
I live off of her chaotic energy. It warms my heart that she was still just as crazy as before. Her “lawyering” was somewhat scary because of how well the drama was for her, and I fully believe she could be a super-villain if given the chance. She is able to make jokes about her blindness (and feeds off of the uncomfortableness of her enemies when she points this out), and this does nothing to stop her in her life. She is absolutely crazy and I love her for it.
4. Kitty Cat
Yeah, only just entered and she just jumped into the polls. She is TOO CUTE!!! Look at that face! How adorable.
But that isn’t the only reason. I really like how she hits it off well with Terezi. Their chat roleplay was cute and fun, and she seems like a good child for asking permission to play. I don’t trust whoever the guy she has to ask is (maybe her lusus, idk), but she seems like a generally sweet girl.
5. Torus
Yeah, it is nice to see him and Jade talk to each other. There really isn’t any new information about him yet. He is a nice guy who tries to hard to be evil and gets screwed because of it. If he talks more like how he did with Jade, then maybe he would be higher up, but in the end the lack of information compared to the others is what kills him here.
6. Goth
She is just a snooty ass. I mean, I get why she thinks that Rose is an idiot (because of John). But then she just treats Rose like she is an idiot for the rest of the time without really looking at Rose’s responses, just because she is frustrated. She just think that Rose just puts this on. Plus, as high talking as she is, she was the idiot to talk to Rose out of order instead of having some form of pattern to talk to her. Come on Goth, seriously. She might be “smart” but she is pretty dumb.
The only plus side is that now she is coming around in terms of how to treat Rose. It isn’t much, but at least there is a change here.
7. Sollux
Ok so when we first met at the “hacker” he was a pessimistic gruff boy who knows that they were going to die, but still did his job regardless. I appreciate that.
Now we know he always seems to be a pessimistic boy with bipolar disorder. When he is in the zone, like with his coding, he is in the zone. And I do like his “I See so much I need to blind myself for the power is too great” type of storyline he has here.
The reason he is now last in the list is, while I do like him for these qualities, it’s his downer moments that I can’t jive with. his “I suck at everything” “maybe my decision is trash” stuff. I know that we were just hinted at this, and that he does have bipolar disorder, but I know people who do this, intentionally or not, and it is just a cycle and exhausting. Hopefully I can see more of his good traits later on, and maybe he’ll be able to rise in the ranks later.
Honorable Mentions (Since We haven’t gotten any information on them yet)
1. Ghost-Chick
I appreciate the eternal ghost vibe that I am getting from her. And yes, due to Sollux’s ability I believe this is her natural power. I want to know why she is in perminant hero mode. Mysterious Badass is always interesting.
2. Evil Fish
Really not much going on with this guy. Only 1 sentence, and he sounds like an arrogent, egotistical asshole from that. But really it is because of the lack of information that he last here to begin with.
